Green Edge is a decentralised cloud infrastructure provider focused on delivering compute and storage capacity closer to end users. The company operates a distributed network of data centers across Europe, Africa, and North America, which helps achieve low latency, strong data sovereignty protections, and high energy efficiency. The platform encrypts and distributes data across multiple nodes, creating a secure and resilient alternative to traditional centralised clouds. Green Edge supports organisations that need scalable, local, and sustainable infrastructure for modern applications.

Decentralised compute and storage for faster, more secure, more sustainable applications.

The Need and Challenges

Green Edge needed to deploy a blockchain network infrastructure for both testnet and mainnet environments, with validator keys protected using Horcrux based encryption. The infrastructure had to be rebuilt on a Proxmox hypervisor using Terraform. All of this had to run on bare metal, which meant higher expectations for stability, security, and daily operations than a managed cloud would normally handle.

The team also needed to install all required applications and modules using Ansible. The configuration had to remain flexible enough to handle differences between hosts within the same group, without duplicating logic or creating separate deployment flows.

Another requirement was to set up full monitoring of both hosts and blockchain elements using custom exporters, together with alerting and on-call notifications through the Grafana stack. This made it essential to ensure that all critical components were observable and that any issues could be detected and addressed without delay.

Green Edge also needed security scanning on all hosts to maintain infrastructure security and compliance. At the same time, they required backups of critical virtual machines stored in Azure Blob Storage, so the team could recover quickly in case of failure or misconfiguration.

Why 2Ops?

Raz D
Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

2Ops team was instrumental in helping us modernize our DevOps and Infrastructure operations. They are bringing a wealth of knowledge in Terraform, Ansible and Linux Administration but is also very quick to adapt to any domain specific requirements on the fly. From setting up Terraform and Proxmox integrations, to automated security scans and on-call monitoring, 2Ops team set up the foundations for our Infrastructure department.

What was implemented?

Full Blockchain Deployment Project

A complete deployment workflow was created for all blockchain network components. This included provisioning virtual machines on Proxmox, installing required software on each host with Ansible, and setting up a CI/CD process to automate execution and updates.

Monitoring and Dashboards

Node exporters were deployed and configured on every host to collect metrics and logs. All data was routed to Grafana, where dashboards were created to provide full visibility into host performance and blockchain activity.

On-Call and Alerting Configuration

Grafana alerting was configured to ensure timely detection and response to issues within the blockchain network. The system delivered clear, actionable notifications to the team to support fast incident handling during network operations.

Vulnerability Scanning

A vulnerability scanner was deployed across all virtual machines. It generated detailed reports on identified vulnerabilities so the team could prioritise and apply fixes without delay.

Backup Configuration

Backups were configured for Proxmox virtual machines and stored securely in Azure Blob Storage. This ensured reliable recovery options for critical blockchain components.

Keycloak Authentication Integration

Keycloak was integrated as the authentication layer for all resources that support single sign-on, improving access control and security across the environment.

It's not just about cloud INFRASTRACTURE

It’s about making applications faster, secure, and more sustainable.

Benefits for Client

Ready for Deployment and Maintenance

The client receives a complete project setup that supports both initial deployment and ongoing maintenance. This reduces manual effort and ensures consistent execution across all environments.

Real-Time Operational Awareness

Real time alerting covers every layer of the infrastructure, from the Proxmox hypervisor to the availability of web resources. This gives the team clear visibility and allows them to detect and address issues early.

Stronger Security and Reduced Risk

Integrated vulnerability scanning keeps virtual machines secure and up to date. Continuous analysis helps identify risks quickly and maintain a high security baseline across the environment.

Unified and Secure Access Control

Keycloak provides a single, standardised OAuth2 based authentication entry point. This simplifies user access, improves security, and creates a consistent approach to managing permissions across all supported resources.
